Greenpeace, community members, and Los Angeles area activists will gather during rush hour for a peaceful rally over one of LA's busiest freeways to urge gridlocked motorists to demand global warming solutions from Congress.

Cars generate more carbon dioxide than any other source of pollution in California, totaling 38% of CA’s statewide global warming emissions.

Join us as we rally and display a banner with our call to action:
"Tell Congress: NO MORE FOSSIL FUELS! STOP GLOBAL WARMING-[masked]", which includes the Congressional switchboard number urging people to contact their representatives. This is the year that we must see positive change for the future of our planet, and we can't do it without your support, so please join us for this important event!

Vermont exit sidewalk overpass of Highway 101.
Street parking is available nearby, and the location is accessible by public transit (Vermont/Beverly exit on the subway - Metro red line)

  • Recruit your friends! To make a big statement, we need a big crowd! Let me know if you can commit to bringing people you know out to the event, and how many people you can bring.
  • Recruit from your network! Brainstorm ways you can get the word out about our event: online (Facebook, MySpace, emails, event websites you know), groups you belong to (book club? at the dog park? people from work? karate class?), etc.

    •  I arrived by metro rail along with 3 friends from the Pasadena area. The GreenPeace L.A. volunteers had a large 3-part banner that was easily visible from the freeway. Traffic was slow averaging 20-25 MPH so drivers and passengers (mostly drivers) had plenty of time to see us on the overpass. We got lots of friendly honks, waves and thumbs up, and a much smaller number of middle-fingers and other less supportive gestures. A reporter from a local paper (I think) was there. It was fun, lots of people saw us, but no TV news helicopters or vans.
