100-Mile Potluck
Did you know that when the average North American sits down to eat, each ingredient has typically traveled at least 1,500 miles, sometimes even further. This is bad for our environment and is not as healthy, nor as fresh as local food. Bring food that was grown within 100 miles as much as you are able to. Los Angeles Farmers Markets can be found here: www.farmernet.com/events/cfms

The Pasadena Post Carbon Outpost is open to anyone concerned about how our community will address the concerns of the coming decline in global oil extraction. Our emphasis is on education and relocalization type projects. Refer to www.postcarbon.org for additional information on Relocalization.

I'll probably bring guacamole (will have to go beyond 100 miles if you want chips :)) and maybe some sliced fruit.

I can provide 6 folding chairs and a number of portable tables, if needed. Awaiting garden ripening, to figure out food offering.

Note: I know it can be difficult to find many ingredients from local sources, so make an effort, but don't worry if you are not bringing something that isn't entirely from within 100-miles.

I usually have a peace vigil on Fridays, but I may leave it a little early.
