Dear Peak Oilers & Climate Changers,

I've set up a poll to set the date for our next meeting.
Please visit http://doodle.com/hi5...
and select all the dates you could make it.

I'd also like to recommend that this Meetup / Transition Network
hybrid consider tabling at the Relocalization Conference next
Sunday (see below for more info). The cost is $25. It's probably worth
it if there are 2 volunteers who would want to take turns at the table,
and at least one person committing to preparing materials that promote
the group... drawing from what we've already got in the Files section.
If it seems like a go, I'll set up a chip-in for $25...

Use the message board for comments -- pro or con, or to volunteer!

Thanks,
Eli

Mass. Coalition for Healthy Communities presents...
2009 Massachusetts Relocalization Conference

Join us for a day of information, inspiration, sharing, speakers, panel discussions, workshops, tabling, great local food, music, fun, and transformative action. A fantastic program is coming together featuring presentations, panels, and workshops on climate/energy/war, building local food systems and local healthcare systems, the public health imperative for relocalizing, the green collar economy, the economics of relocalization, the democratization of our governance and our workplaces, inspiring Transition Town initiatives, places to intervene in a system, the solidarity economy, and more!

WHAT: A statewide conference celebrating and highlighting the grassroots initiatives that are springing up in response to systemic breakdowns and meltdowns, from the economy to healthcare to the environment.

WHEN: Sunday, October 18th, Registration & Breakfast - 8:00AM - 9:30AM
Full program 9:30AM – 7:00PM

WHERE: Reggie Lewis Center, 1350 Tremont Street, Roxbury, MA

REGISTER TODAY! $10-$30 Pre-registration sliding scale (includes great food, scholarships available)
http://relocalizemass...

We'd like to keep this sliding scale through the day of the conference to maximize accessibility, so please contribute towards the higher end of the scale!

We'll have Bill McKibben on hand just a week before the big International Day of Climate Action (see 350.org). We'll have Frances Moore Lappé and Mel King on hand, pointing the way to resilient, relocalized communities based on justice and sustainability. And we'll have dozens of people and organizations on hand who are blazing the trail in their communities for thriving local economies that protect the planet while meeting people's needs.

* Organizations still encouraged to co-sponsor and participate: http://relocalizemass...
* Not-for-profit tabling for $25, for-profit tabling $50 (sell your localized wares!)
* Buy ad space in our Massachusetts Relocalization Guidebook
* VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Please help us pull off this big-minded event! We can use help of all stripes -- from conference planning in the final week to videography & editing, graphic design, and helping us out with various odds and ends on the day of the conference. Send email to volunteer@relocalizemassachusetts.org
* HELP SPREAD THE WORD! Forward our emails to anyone or any list you think we should reach. Download the flyer and post it on bulletin boards or in laundromats. Add us to any community calendars. Tweet away! http://relocalizemass...
